Material & Care

Furniture made of UHPC (Ultra High Performance Fiber Concrete) can be used both indoors and outdoors. BEFUP is extremely solid and lends itself perfectly to urban furniture projects, outdoor kitchens, bar lounges, indoor furniture, garden furniture, etc.

The BEFUP (ultra high performance fiber reinforced concrete)

Solid Studio uses a concrete formulation developed in partnership with Ciments Calcia to design our furniture. This active partnership with Ciments Calcia continually pushes us to push back the limits of EFFIX ARCA.

This fiber-reinforced concrete allows us to work in very thin thicknesses, giving us great freedom in terms of shape, texture and color. Its specific nature demands precise expertise in its application, similar to the techniques used for molding racing boats.

Thanks to the incorporation of natural pigments, this material can be tinted in its entirety. Starting with white mortar, a wide range of colors is possible. These choices are validated by the customer during the sampling/prototyping phase.

Maintenance of concrete furniture

We recommend two types of finish for your concrete furniture:

Polyurethane varnish : is recommended for furniture subject to heavy use, such as sinks or worktops. This treatment consists of applying a pore filler followed by a two-component varnish that envelops the concrete in an extremely resistant protective layer. The varnish sets the concrete's appearance.

Protective oil : Lithofin's Flesckstop range is water and oil repellent. It protects surfaces against encrusting stains and greasy or aqueous impregnations. This lighter treatment allows concrete to breathe, giving it a livelier patina.

Concrete is a living material subject to patina. For daily cleaning, use a natural wax-based cleaner to restore its lustre. We recommend avoiding acid-based detergents.

Sustainable and 100% local furniture

Durability is one of the main advantages of UHPC

In our workshop in Brittany, we make furniture that will be passed on to future generations, contributing to a more sustainable economy.

The concrete we use is made from a blend of components sourced from local quarries, promoting a short circuit economy. The entire furniture production process takes place in Solid Studio's workshop near Vannes.
